Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect your email so you can have an account, and we count how many words you run so we can keep the free tier honest. We do not sell your data. We do not train any AI model on your writing. You can have everything deleted by asking.

Who we are

Scriptless is the service at scriptless.co. For anything on this page, including a request to see or delete your data, email hello@scriptless.co.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you create an account or ask for a sign in link.
• The text you paste in, for as long as it takes to process it. See the next section.
• Usage counts: how many words and runs, when, and roughly what they cost us.
• What kind of writing you do, if you answer our one question at sign up. Optional.
• Your voice setup, if you fill it in: what you write, how formal you are, how your sentences run, and anything you asked us never to use. Optional.
• A sample of your own writing, if you choose to give one, so the rewrite can match how you actually sound. Optional, and you can delete it at any time.
• Whether you want marketing email, and the moment you told us. Optional.
• Basic analytics: pages visited and rough location, through Vercel Analytics and PostHog.

Your text

To analyze or humanize your writing we send it to Anthropic, who run the Claude model that does the work. They process it to return a result and do not use it to train their models. We do not keep a copy of your text unless you are signed in, in which case the first 5,000 characters, roughly 800 words, are saved to your History so you can find it again. That is most of a typical essay, not a passing snippet, which is why we would rather say the number than call it an excerpt. You can delete any History entry yourself, and closing your account removes them all.

Your voice setup

If you set up a voice, we keep your answers and, if you gave one, the writing sample, against your account. They are used for one thing: shaping how your text is rewritten. We do not read them, we do not sell them, and we do not train any model on them. Anthropic sees your voice setup only as part of the instructions for a rewrite you asked for, in the same way it sees the text itself.

Please do not paste anything into the sample box that you would mind us holding. A few sentences is all it needs. You can clear or replace your sample whenever you like from your profile, and deleting your account removes it with everything else.

Why we are allowed to hold it

• To give you the service you asked for. Your account and your word count.
• Our legitimate interest in keeping the service working, stopping abuse, and understanding what it costs to run.
• Your consent, for marketing email only. That is the tick box, it is never required, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Email

If you have an account we may email you about the service itself: how it works, changes, and things you need to know. If you ticked the marketing box we may also send writing tips and offers. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away.

Who else touches your data

• Supabase stores your account and your usage counts.
• Vercel hosts the site and provides basic traffic analytics.
• Anthropic processes the text you submit, to return your result.
• PostHog records anonymous product analytics.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

How long we keep it

Your voice setup and your writing sample stay until you change them, clear them, or close your account. Your account and usage counts stay until you ask us to delete them. History excerpts stay until you delete them or close your account. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal data within 30 days.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU, or a place with similar law, you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@scriptless.co and we will action it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

Analytics cookies only load if you press Accept on the bar that appears on your first visit. Press Reject and nothing that watches you ever starts. Your choice is remembered in your browser, so to change it, clear this site's data and the bar will ask again.

Separately, we use what is needed to keep you signed in, which is not optional because it is how an account works at all. Your browser also stores a small counter locally to remember how many free runs you have had. That counter never leaves your device.

Children

Scriptless is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged to account holders by email.
